How is COVID-19 Affecting the Library?

The library system is closed. Thus, programs and meetings scheduled at the Library have been cancelled until further notice.

The Friends Book Shop is closed.

Neither the Library nor the Friends are accepting book, DVD or CD donations.

A Special Message from San Diego
Public Library Director Misty Jones

Dear Library patrons,

In an effort to protect the health and safety of the public and to limit the further spread of COVID-19, Mayor Faulconer has announced all 36 City libraries will close to the public beginning Monday, March 16 through Monday, April 6, 2020, unless an extension is warranted. The extension was made.

Consistent with previous closure announcements by San Diego Unified School District, all library programming and events also have been postponed or canceled.
